Natalie Lazier, MSW, RSW
Natalie is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She provides individual therapy and facilitates skills groups with DBT Hamilton.
Natalie completed her Master’s in Social Work at York University where she won a research award for her major research paper in 2010, and has a post-graduate certificate in Harm Reduction. Natalie’s main MSW practicum was at The Sexual Assault Centre of the Hamilton Area (SACHA), which shaped her understanding of compassionate trauma-informed care. Early in her career she worked in community-based services providing counselling, public education to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and People living with HIV. Natalie was awarded an internship at David Kelley Services LGBTQ+ Counselling Program providing individual, couple, and family counselling to people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ on a broad range of issues including coming out, sexual orientation, gender identity, self-esteem, and violence. In this role regular supervision with a psychologist focused on trauma-informed care in relation to minority stress, attachment, and emotion focused therapy.
Natalie started working for St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in 2014 providing outpatient mental health treatment, focusing initially on cognitive behavioral therapies and mindfulness. In 2015 Natalie received intensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD in 2017. Since that time her focus has been on treatment for clients with emotional dysregulation as well as PTSD treatment. Natalie’s practice style involves working from a place of authenticity in helping others find being and balance in their lives and within their world.
