Getting Started

We accept self-referrals. To start the referral process please complete the referral form here.

We will be in touch by phone to obtain more information about what you are looking for and provide additional information about our processes, fees, and wait times.

Because we are a specialty program, there is often a wait for services. This is common for DBT programs. We strive to keep wait times at a minimum, however, based on the demand for services and the skill set required to deliver effective treatment, there will likely be a wait. Wait times are impacted by client availability as well as requests to work with particular therapists. The more flexible the individual’s availability, the shorter the wait.

Initial Assessment

For each new client, we conduct two assessment sessions to identify what is causing the person misery and making life difficult, how the person would like their life to be, and how treatment can help individuals to move from a place of suffering to a fulfilling life.

We also use these assessments to ensure that we are a good fit for the clients’ concerns and what they want from treatment. Specifically, some people who seek our services would be served better by another professional or treatment that we do not offer or is not our expertise. This happens because many people are told that DBT would be helpful. While DBT can be incredibly helpful for people, it is not designed to treat all individuals and/or all problems. The outcome of the assessment may result in our team referring an individual to another skilled colleague or program in the community.

Before attending the assessment appointment, we will ask you to complete several questionnaires to allow us to make the most of the assessment time and to help to inform our treatment recommendations. We use Greenspace, an online progress monitoring platform, for the assessment and to monitor progress throughout treatment to enhance treatment outcomes.

We will also ask you to provide consent to obtain records from current or previous treatment providers to ensure that we have adequate information about your background and treatment history.
